100% KONA COFFEE | BRIGHT MEDIUM-LIGHT ROAST
For bright and sweet coffee lovers, our lighter 100% Kona medium roast coffee – Kona Bloom – comes from the same farm as our popular Kona dark roast called Kona Moon. It’s a naturally sweet and floral Extra Fancy Kona coffee with tasting notes of jasmine, peach, honey, caramel, and toffee.
Compared with coffees from other regions, like Ka’u or Maui, our medium-light roast Kona coffee beans have a smooth mouthfeel, and peach, jasmine, and cacao aromas. In contrast, both of our popular Ka’u coffees – Ka’u Morning Glory and Ka’u Wood Valley Single Estate – are brighter, akin to white wine, and our Maui coffee – Maui Mellow has stronger notes of roasted nuts.
This Kona coffee is roasted to order with the roast day stamped on the bag. It’s perfect for medium-light roast Kona coffee aficionados seeking naturally sweet & juicy coffees.
BACKGROUND: PROCESS OF REFINEMENT
Before roasting, each of our Kona coffee undergoes three additional steps that elevate the quality and meets our expectations: optical sorting, grading, and storing in Grain-pro bags.
✓ Grading separates the beans into different sizes and removes some defects. This creates a clean consistency in the cup.
✓ Optical sorting removes remaining defects and discolored and damaged beans.
✓ Grain-pro storage protects delicate coffee from Hawaii’s humid environment.
✓ Bean size We use a larger bean size for this Kona medium roast, which is both beautiful to look at and, we noticed, tastes a bit fruitier and more floral in the cup.
In addition to harvesting ripe Kona coffee cherry, these three steps separate exceptional specialty-grade Kona coffee from commodity-grade Kona coffees, which can be overly acidic or bitter. Thatʻs one among many reasons to choose specialty Kona medium roast coffees, like Kona Bloom, over others.
